Therapy for Expats in Hong Kong
English & French Sessions with a UK-Trained Psychologist
Living in Hong Kong as an expat is full of opportunity — and also a specific kind of pressure that is rarely acknowledged. You chose this life. You built something here. And yet there are moments when the distance from home, the relentlessness of the city, and the weight of performing at a high level with very little personal support start to feel like too much.
Therapy with an expat-specialist psychologist can help you make sense of what is happening, and change it.
Common Challenges for Expats in Hong Kong
Living and working in Hong Kong as an expat brings unique psychological pressures that are rarely acknowledged. Common challenges I support clients through include:
Relocation adjustment and culture shock — including return to home country• Isolation and difficulty building meaningful connections
Career pressure in a high-performance, high-cost environment
Relationship strain from the demands of expat life
Identity questions — who am I outside my home culture?
Anxiety and burnout specific to the expat professional context
Grief for what was left behind
Managing mental health away from established support networks
These are real, recognised psychological challenges — and they respond well to structured therapy.

How I Work with Expats in Hong Kong
I am a UK-trained Clinical Psychologist with NHS experience, offering online therapy in English and French. I work with expats across Hong Kong using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and EMDR — both of which are evidence-based, structured, and designed to create meaningful change rather than simply provide a space to talk.
Sessions are 50 minutes and conducted online, which means you can attend from your office, your home, or anywhere private, without adding a commute to an already full schedule. I work during Hong Kong office hours and am familiar with the specific pressures of professional expat life in this city.
Why Online Therapy Works Well for Expats
Many of my expat clients initially wonder whether online therapy will feel as effective as in-person sessions. The research consistently shows that online CBT and EMDR produce comparable outcomes to face-to-face therapy. For expats specifically, online therapy has additional advantages: continuity of care if you travel frequently, no additional time cost during a busy week, and the ability to maintain therapy even during relocation.
Sessions in English and French
I offer therapy in both English and French. For francophone expats in Hong Kong whether from France, Belgium, Switzerland, or elsewhere. Working in your first language can make a significant difference to the depth and effectiveness of therapy. You should not have to translate yourself to be understood.
